vietnam war
Like Korea, Vietnam was divided into two nations, north and south, after World War II. North Vietnam was communist and led by Ho Chi Ming, who fought the Japanese in World War II and led the resistance against the French. South Vietnam was non communist country led by Ngo Dinh Diem. Ho Chi Minh wanted to reunite Vietnam and he supported communist rebels in South Vietnam. The United States began to send troops in 1964 and started bombing North Vietnam. A cease-fire was made in August 1973 and American forces withdrew. North Vietnam ended up reuniting the country under a communist government.
The effect of this was that Vietnam would be a communist nation and 2,000,000 to 3,000,000 causalities.
